About “Runner Warming Up Squad!”
“Runner Warming Up Squad!” is a hot cheer event from the sidelines to warm up the race, supporting 32,000 runners via various performances and acclaimed by many runners each year, with comments such as “It spurred me on!” and “Thanks to the performances, I could complete the race.”
Upholding the slogan “Making a Rainbow Together”, the Osaka Marathon is organized featuring seven charity themes and themed rainbow colors (purple, navy, light blue, green, yellow, orange and red). Runners select the charity theme they wish to support and complete the race in the costume of their team color of choice on the day. Moreover, the Nanairo (Rainbow Color) Team Competition, which compares finishers’ average times in each of the seven colors in a contest, adds further encouragement to participants to complete the race or achieve the targeted time alongside companions in the same color team.
Performers on the sidelines also participate in a cheer event, “Nanairo (Rainbow Color) Cheer” where they wear costumes and cheering goods related to the charity theme color that they wish to support. In particular, at seven designated Nanairo (Rainbow Color) Cheer Station venues, they engage in cheering activities spotlighting each rainbow color on the sidelines to support runners.
