Come our thanks and a report from the charitable organizations

For all runners, well done at what you have achieved in this race!Plus – for all those who helped us with donations - we really appreciate your support. Thank you very much!

The Osaka Marathon has been held as a charity marathon ever since its inception.
This year, 32 charitable organizations participated, presenting their work and interacting with runners and supporters in an effort to further popularize their charitable activities.

32 charitable organization booths lined up at the EXPO Osaka Marathon Charity Corner to greet the runners!
They displayed boards with the runners’ names for commemorative photos and prayed for the runners to successfully finish the marathon, becoming a friendly and familiar presence to all!

On the course sidelines, they cheered the runners on with “Rainbow High-Five Gloves”, which have become a symbol of the Osaka Marathon!
Runners and all other supporters all participated in the charitable activities in their own way; collectively enjoying and boosting the charitable activities of the Osaka Marathon.

OISCA

Great job, runners! Did you enjoy the new 42.195-km course?
Every year, you can find us on the side of the road, cheering you on. When we see you doing your best, we feel like we can also give it our all.
When you give us high-fives, it lifts our spirits. You do so much for us, and I hope that what we do is helping you out in some small way as well.
We hope to see you all again next year! Thank you so much!!

How your donations are usedYour donations will be used to hire farmers from disaster-affected areas and for outsourcing fees to forest cooperatives involved in raising seedlings, planting trees and caring for forests in order to restore the 100-ha coastal forest in Natori City in Miyagi Prefecture that was lost in the tsunami during the Great East Japan Earthquake. Thanks to you all, the coastal forest that existed before the earthquake was completely replanted in 2018, but our work does not only end there. We will continue to carry out afforestation projects, starting with planting.

WaterAid Japan (Specified NPO)

I would like to thank all the members of the Blue Team, the charity runners, and the supporters who donated to the charity runners to show their support. I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who came together at the 9th Osaka Marathon with the same idea of providing “clean water for all.” It feels like many seeds for charity have started to bud again at this year’s Osaka Marathon, where both runners and supporters have come together as one. For the Children’s Hospice Project, the Osaka Marathon is both a charity event and one in which children can take part by cheering you all on. We were impressed to see you trying the newly introduced course in the moderate climate. All of us were happy that we were able to work with you.
Some young people are tied with society only loosely, and have few opportunities to meet those who can support them. We believe, however, that the Osaka Marathon has delivered such young people the message that many people in society wait for them to grow and become independent.
Now, it is our turn to make many attempts to connect young people and society.

How your donations are usedTo support young people is a form of social investment that returns to society in terms of tax revenues and economic activities.
Some young people cannot access support programs, even if they want to, for many reasons, such as financial hardship. We will use your donations for the free support package program that we provide for young people to find employment. The donations will cover not only our support costs, but also the young people’s travel expenses and other expenses, so they can concentrate on participating in the program.

On the day of the event, all the 32,000 runners demonstrated excellent performance! Not only their running, but also many other things greatly encouraged Nishinari, such as powerful yelling on the sidelines along the course and many colorful banners! There were too many to mention all of them here. At a wide variety of places in Nishinari, though not throughout the district, we felt that the Osaka Marathon would serve as a good opportunity to make Nishinari an even more exciting district!
