Osaka Sports Supporting Runners

  • AThis system grants the right to run in Osaka Marathon 2026 to the first 800 persons (400 persons from Osaka Prefecture, 400 persons from Osaka City) who donated at least 100,000 yen to the Namihaya Sports Promotion Fund (Osaka Prefecture) or the Osaka City Sports Promotion Fund (Osaka City) within the solicitation period through the Furusato Nozei Program (a charitable donation to a municipality of one's choice), or to persons who were designated by such a donor.
    Overseas entries are not permitted. A separate entry fee and other fees are required.

  • AWhile a donor can designate a runner, the designated runner cannot transfer the right to run.

Civic athletes

Charity runners

  • A Charity runners participate for the purpose of deepening understanding of the Osaka Marathon charity activities and expanding the range of support.

  • A You can participate by paying the participation fee (USD 145) and donation (USD 485: USD 475 + USD 5 × 2 unit) at the time of entry, without using fundraising.

Runner registration

  • A Be sure to complete your registration in person.
    Also, note that registration (provision of athlete bibs (number cards)) will not be accepted on the day of the event.

    Note that no registration by a proxy will be accepted, whether the registration is for you or your escort runner.

  • A Proxies are not accepted. Please call the call center personally after the conclusion of the event.

  • A To prevent terrorism (intrusion by suspicious persons) and proxy running, we need all runners to wear a security band after our staff members confirm the runners’ identities. We would appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
    Please continue to wear the security band until the day of the event.
    Note that if it cannot be confirmed that you are wearing the band at the time of entering the starting area, you will not be allowed to run the race.

Event operation

  • A The event will take place even if it rains, but it might be canceled if it is difficult to operate the event due to a storm or other extreme weather conditions.

  • A If the event is canceled, the cancellation will be posted on the official website as soon as possible after the decision has been made.
    Please check the official website in the morning on the day of the event to see whether the event will take place or not. (We plan to post the decision at 5:00 a.m.)

  • A To relieve congestion and protect safety, a wave (corral) start will be used.
    Starting blocks will be determined by the organizer based on the self-reported personal best time and estimated finish time submitted at the time of application, regardless of whether the runner is registered with the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF). These decisions are made from the perspective of race management and safety.
    Please note that starting from a block ahead of your assigned wave, you will be disqualified. Please make sure to start from your designated block.

    The personal best time must be from an official marathon event held on or after August 1, 2023, and must be either the gross time or net time. If false information is submitted, your entry may be disqualified.

    The estimated finish time should be carefully calculated based on your half marathon results or regular training performance.

    Group entries will start from the same block as the participant in the same group with the slowest personal best time and estimated time at application.

    720 〈Naniwa〉 Marathon (Runners) shall start from Wave 3.

  • A Volunteers who can communicate in sign language will be stationed at the general information desk of INTEX Osaka at the time of runner registration and at the general information desk of each of the start and finishing areas (Osaka Castle Park) on the day of the event.
    Other staff will communicate through writing.

Entry fee, etc.

  • A You cannot transfer your right to participate to anyone. If proxy running is discovered, you and your proxy will be disqualified.
    In that case, the event organizing body will not make any compensation. Also note that even if you notify us before the event that you cannot participate, no refund will be made for any personal reason once you have made the payment to us.
    Donations will also not be refunded for any reason.

    If the safe operation of the race is judged to be difficult due to an earthquake, storm, flood, or any other natural disaster; the spread of an infectious disease; accident requiring a police or fire department response; etc., the race will be canceled. The amount of refund of the entry fee, etc. in the case of race cancellation will be determined after deducting the expenses incurred before the cancellation decision was made.

  • A The organizer will only provide first aid in the event of an accident during the race. Except in the case of gross negligence by the organizer, compensation will be within the range of the engaged accident insurance (solatium payment).

  • A The amount of refund of the entry fee, etc. in the case of race cancellation will be determined after deducting the expenses incurred before the cancellation decision was made.
    For the right to participate in the next event and the shipment of the participation prize, decisions will be made according to the timing of the cancellation.
