How to Enter: Citizen Athletes

Open to runners who have achieved a qualifying time set by Osaka Marathon for their age group and gender.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Entry fee and other charges are to be borne by each applicant. This category is not limited to Osaka City residents.

About the Eligibility Screening Results for Citizen Athletes

  • Race certificate will be inspected for eligibility screening.

After completing the entry, please upload the digital data of your race certificate from RUNNET My Page in JPEG or PDF format.

The maximum file size is 10 MB. Please note that the race certificate cannot be uploaded from the MyRUNNET app. Please upload your certificate by Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM. If it is not uploaded by the deadline, you will be deemed ineligible.

  • If your status is Entry Completed, you may participate as Citizen Athletes.

If your status is Invalid, unfortunately you may not participate as Citizen Athletes.

  • If you wish to take part as General Runners, please complete your new entry by Friday, August 28, 2026 at 5:00 PM.

Selection of Participants Selection Method

First come, first served. Applications will no longer be accepted when capacity is reached. Participants will be selected through an eligibility screening process.(The results of eligibility screening will be notified by e-mail around Monday, August 24, 2026, only to the ineligible.)

Charity Donation

Each participant is asked to make a charity donation of at least two units (500 JPY per unit). Please note that payments are non-refundable once made.

Administrative Fee

Domestic: 6% of the total payment amount

Notes
  • Only runners who hold a qualifying time within the standards set for each age group and gender are eligible. Qualifying times must be from a JAAF-certified or AIMS-certified course, recorded on or after August 1, 2024, and may be either gross time or net time.
  • The qualifying standard will be based on the age shown on the race certificate as of race day.
  • Ages 18 to 39: 3 hours (men) / 3 hours 45 minutes (women)
  • Ages 40 to 49: 3 hours 10 minutes (men) / 3 hours 50 minutes (women)
  • Ages 50 to 59: 3 hours 25 minutes (men) / 4 hours 10 minutes (women)
  • Ages 60 to 69: 3 hours 50 minutes (men) / 4 hours 40 minutes (women)
  • Ages over 70: 4 hours 30 minutes (men) / 5 hours 20 minutes (women)
  • Race certificate will be inspected for eligibility screening. Please send your race certificate in PDF or JPG format when applying.
  • When ineligible, the entry fee and other charges will be refunded after the administrative fee has been deducted. If you wish to take part as General Runners, please complete your entry by Friday, August 28, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
